SUMMARY:History Reclaimed: A Community Bench Dedication
DESCRIPTION:History Reclaimed: A Community Bench DedicationJoin Concord Prison Outreach on November 1 for History Reclaimed\, a community bench dedication honoring the Naming the Unnamed Project and remembering the 218 men buried at Concord Reformatory Cemetery. Together\, we will reclaim their histories\, honor their humanity\, and create a lasting space for remembrance. \n\nSunday\, Nov 1 | 2:00 – 4:00 PM (Rain or shine)\n \nCPO invites you to join us for History Reclaimed\, a special community gathering and bench dedication commemorating the Naming the Unnamed Project. \nThrough this project\, CPO has worked to honor and restore the identities of 218 men who were buried in the former MCI-Concord prison cemetery between 1878 and 1996. For generations\, many of these individuals were remembered only by numbers rather than their names. \nThe Naming the Unnamed Project seeks to change that by recognizing their humanity\, preserving their stories\, and ensuring they are not forgotten. \nThis community bench will serve as a lasting place for remembrance\, reflection\, and recognition of those whose lives and histories deserve to be acknowledged. \nTogether\, we’ll dedicate the grounds by planting daffodils that will bloom in the spring as a lasting tribute to those remembered. Refreshments will be provided. All are welcome! \nLocation:\nGerow Recreation Area Pavilion\nNear MCI-Concord Prison37B Commonwealth Avenue\, Concord\, MA\nLimited parking is available by the event site. Additional parking is available near the prison and the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail. \nDate & Time:Sunday\, Nov 1 | 1:00 – 3:00 PM(Rain or shine) \nExplore the “Naming the Unnamed Project”Contact:Sam WilliamsExecutive Director\, Concord Prison Outreachsam@concordprisonoutreach.org(978) 369-1430 \nHelp us bring their lives forward.
