The holiday gift bags program has been a staple of Concord Prison Outreach for nearly 40 years. This year, the organization is working with the Massachusetts Department of Correction to create 3,500 bags for inmates in the northern sector, according to the announcement. This includes facilities such as the Northeastern Correctional Center in Concord; North Central Correctional Institute in Gardner; MCI-Shirley; MCI-Framingham; and Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center in Lancaster.
About 150 volunteers and faith-based communities are assembling gift bags, according to the announcement. Each bag contains toiletries like shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, soap and lotion. Additionally, recipients will receive a pad of paper, a calendar and a greeting card.
