History Reclaimed: A Community Bench Dedication
Join Concord Prison Outreach on November 1 for History Reclaimed, a community bench dedication honoring the Naming the Unnamed Project and remembering the 218 men buried at Concord Reformatory Cemetery. Together, we will reclaim their histories, honor their humanity, and create a lasting space for remembrance.
Sunday, Nov 1 | 2:00 – 4:00 PM (Rain or shine)
CPO invites you to join us for History Reclaimed, a special community gathering and bench dedication commemorating the Naming the Unnamed Project.
Through this project, CPO has worked to honor and restore the identities of 218 men who were buried in the former MCI-Concord prison cemetery between 1878 and 1996. For generations, many of these individuals were remembered only by numbers rather than their names.
The Naming the Unnamed Project seeks to change that by recognizing their humanity, preserving their stories, and ensuring they are not forgotten.
This community bench will serve as a lasting place for remembrance, reflection, and recognition of those whose lives and histories deserve to be acknowledged.
Together, we’ll dedicate the grounds by planting daffodils that will bloom in the spring as a lasting tribute to those remembered. Refreshments will be provided. All are welcome!
