RESTORATIVE JUSTICE RECOVERY CIRCLE

What is a Restorative Justice Recovery Circle?

At Concord Prison Outreach, one way we practice Restorative Justice inside correctional facilities is through our Restorative Justice Recovery Circles program. These facilitated circles provide a safe space for reflection, honest dialogue, and shared responsibility, particularly around substance use and its impacts.

We want participants to take responsibility without shame. Our Restorative Justice Recovery Circles program focuses on four key goals:

  1. Build knowledge

  2. Recognize causes and triggers

  3. Strengthen recovery practices

  4. Foster accountability and personal growth

Recovery Circles are especially critical in light of the ongoing K2 epidemic in correctional facilities. K2 is a synthetic cannabinoid linked to overdoses and addiction. This crisis has caused deep trauma among incarcerated individuals. RJ Recovery Circles allow participants to process grief and fear, support accountability and recovery, and most importantly, help interrupt cycles of harm. Learn more during the video series below!
