Volunteer Coordinator – Full-Time, Paid Staff Position
Position Summary
Concord Prison Outreach (CPO) seeks a highly organized and detail-oriented Volunteer Coordinator to collaborate with the Volunteer and Program Manager in delivering educational and personal development programming in correctional facilities across Massachusetts. This position plays a critical behind-the-scenes role in managing the administrative and logistical operations that ensure CPO’s volunteer-driven programs run smoothly.
In addition to supporting volunteer infrastructure, the Volunteer Coordinator will also work closely with the Executive Director on special projects and administrative needs and collaborate with the Board President to prepare reports and updates for the Board of Directors. The ideal candidate is a collaborative self-starter with excellent communication skills and a passion for justice, education, and community service.
Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Coordination
- Support volunteer onboarding processes, including background checks, paperwork
- tracking, and database updates.
- Help schedule and coordinate volunteer orientations and trainings.
- Assist with communication and scheduling logistics between CPO staff, volunteers, and DOC/HOC staff.
- Maintain and organize volunteer and program records.
Administrative & Outreach Support
- Manage routine data entry in Salesforce, including attendance and program metrics.
- Assist with Mailchimp emails and volunteer outreach tasks.
- Support website and social media updates (as directed).
- Draft or edit flyers, forms, and other program materials.
- Respond to volunteer inquiries and follow up as needed.
Operational Support
- Organize and track applications, clearances, and correspondence with DOC/HOC.
- Maintain digital and physical filing systems.
- Provide tech or event setup assistance for presentations and volunteer gatherings.
- Complete other administrative and coordination tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage paperwork-heavy processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Willingness to learn digital tools, including Salesforce and Mailchimp.
- Ability to travel to Concord, MA, with access to reliable transportation.
- Comfort working in or with correctional environments.
Preferred:
- Experience in nonprofits, education, or the criminal justice system.
- Familiarity with Salesforce, Mailchimp, Canva, or basic website editing tools.
Position Details
- Location: Hybrid (on-site in Concord, MA, with remote flexibility).
- Hours: Full-time; some evening and weekend availability required.
- Salary: $45,000–$50,000, depending on experience.
- Benefits: Health insurance, paid time off, and paid holidays.
